Bignall Family

I was born and brought up in Merstham and finally moved to London in 1969. My main query is for any info your readers may have because I have got the family tree kick!
I am looking for any info on the Bignall family living in Merstham. They came originally from Wingrave in Buckinghamshire
in the 1870s and a large group of them were living in Albury Road by 1901.
My grandmother, Kathleen Bignall, was born at 80 Albury Road and I am looking for any info regarding members of this branch of the family.

Many thanks.

Hi, I'm looking for information about my father's family.

My Grandmother Florence Simmons was living at 47 Albury Road in 1901 with her father James and her mother Mary as well as her sisters Rose & Mary and brothers James & Henry. He nephew James Botley was also living there. As you can see they went in for large families then.

All the children went to school in Merstham but I don't know which one and then went to work in the brickfields.

My Grandmother then married John Whatman in Merstham Church. If anyone has any information about the family please contact me.

The Simmons family appear to have come from Walton on the Hill via Caterham.

If anyone has any information please contact me by e-mail at davidwhatman@hotmail.com
 or ring 01273 885168

Thanks, Dave

I am interested in hearing from anybody who can recall the
PINK or CHALMERS families in Merstham. My great-grandfather was James Joseph Pink who ran a building firm in Merstham, his nephew Stanley Thomas Pink and Wilfred Oram later went into business as Pink & Oram. Wilfred Oram married Edith Pink (Stanley's sister) -
so I would be interested in hearing from any of the Oram descendants too.

I am researching my great-grandmother's family.  Her name was Elizabeth "Betty" Charlotte (Messenger) Hague.  Her parents were James Arthur and Eliza Jane (Chandler) Messenger.  She left Merstham prior to 1898.  She was one of 11 children.  Several of her brothers and sisters also immigrated to the U.S.  Of the brothers that remained in Merstham, all I know are names: Charles, Thomas and P.W.  I have a letter from a Rose Messenger, possibly my grandmother's aunt, in Farnham, Surrey.  If anyone has any information and would like to contact me F Baker, email:  rdunn@vallnet.com.

My name is Vickie Slogrove

I am researching the Slogrove family history and would be happy to hear from any Slogrove family or in-laws.  William and Ruth Ellen (nee ROSE) Slogrove lived in Merstham where William was a gardener on an estate.  There is some evidence that he owned or ran a pub, but I cannot find the name of it. I was told it was pulled down.

Any information gratefully received.

 Greetings from Vancouver Island.

I am looking for descendants of Sgt. F.A. Aver, whose parents were living in Merstham in 1944. He was killed in a Lancaster which crashed north of Berlin on January 29, 1944. My uncle was on the same plane. I am working with a group in Germany which located the crash site in 1997 to learn more about the crew and to contact family members to let them know that there is more information about what happened to the plane and the crew. Some of them were found at the crash site and were reburied in the British Cemetery in Berlin last year. We are looking for photographs and trying to discover which crew member wore a distinctive signet ring found at the crash site.
