Lads,
Dads and Daughters join the club!
Merstham Football Club, are inviting young
footballers of both sexes to join the club. “We have a great club
with exciting prospects” says Ted Hickman, the Club Chairman, “and
we need more enthusiastic keen youngsters to join us in the future”.
Next season Merstham are hoping to field under 9s, 10s, 11s,
12s, 14s, 15s and 16s squads as well as the Club’s First and
Second Teams. They are also keen to have a Ladies Team, so girls,
step to it and sign up.
Having the extra squads means that we will also be looking to have
some Dads (or Mums) volunteer to be managers and assistants. “This
can be great fun and very rewarding,” say Perry Williams who has
managed a squad through their U9, U10 and U11 years and has the
pleasure of watching and running a team who are currently at the top
of their division. “There is nothing difficult about it, you get a
great deal of support from the club and other parents” says Perry.
“All you have to be prepared for is to run a training evening each
week, often along with the other squads, and then get the team
organised for match-days.”
Merstham will be the venue for the local Primary Schools seven a
side tournament on Friday 18th March so if any Parents or players
want to meet us there will be plenty of people to talk to. "So if
you enjoy football and think you can do better than Rooney and
Ferguson, come along and meet Merstham FC," says Paul Elsey who
manages this years U10s.
Merstham FC is found on Weldon Way, Merstham.
